Ways to monetise my blog and satisfy my readers

How should I monetise my blog and still please my readers?

I have been posting to my blog for around a year. I love writing, and I especially love to research information before writing my blogs.

Those of you who follow me know I have an interest in writing, editing, books, people, health, gardening, learning and crafting. I don’t write about travel, fashion or serious legal stuff. My target audience is women 50+, and anyone who cares about us!

I have had a couple of articles published with an emerging online magazine, which was very exciting and validating. I have a few “followers” of Classic Women (thank you lovely people) – but not enough to make a sponsor come knocking on my door for the wonderful marketing exposure they could get!

So here is the dilemma. It’s time to look at ways to gain an income from my blog, i.e. monetise it.

There are plenty of ‘experts’ out there willing to assist me for a fee; there are also plentiful online articles, such as this one with over 30 suggestions about how to monetise your blog, some of which appeal (eg PPC) and some of which make me shudder (eg in-text ads – annoying little devils that spoil a good read!).

But what I really want to know is: how can I:

  • attract more subscribers to my blog?

     and

  • make a small income writing decent content?
